In this interview, Mr. Smith talks about the involvement of the faith community in the International AIDS Conference, AIDS 2012. He specifically talks about a satellite event held at Georgetown University that engaged prominent political leaders in the faith community's efforts as well as brought together myriad facets of the faith community to talk about the HIV/AIDS response. Mr. Smith reflects that though the faith community has not always been brought to the table in previous AIDS conferences, AIDS 2012 has been a different experience and this trend must continue into the future.

The CSIS Global Health Policy Center hosted its second debate on the topic, "Resolved: That the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis, and Malaria should be transformed to become the Global Fund for Health." Affirming the resolution, Mark Dybul of Georgetown University argued for the transformation of the Global Fund into the principal financier for integrated health delivery. Julian Schweitzer of the Results for Development Institute responded. Noted health expert and correspondent Susan Dentzer, editor-in-chief of Health Affairs, moderated the debate.
